If you are the type that really likes small Bluetooth headsets you will want to take a look at this LG HBM-730 review. The reviewer has gone through quite a few headsets so he knows what to look for. Princeton has finally made the ultimate USB Bluetooth adapter. The PTM-UBT3S is little more than the just the plug, but is packed with Bluetooth 2.0 + EDR. Kudos to Princeton for making this tiny Bluetooth adapter. Now if they could just get it into production overseas and set a price, that would be great.

The Plantronics Voyager 520 is slightly larger than other Bluetooth headsets, but seems to more than make up for it in quality, ease-of-use, and battery life.

The device monitors ECG and transmits the information via Bluetooth to a specialized cell phone. The phone has special circuitry designed to check for signs that cardiac failure is imminent. If a heart attack is detected, the phone sends an alert to the emergency room via text message.

soundabout_lossless_a2dp.jpg

PC Magazine has the scoop on a new lossless audio codec that could soon be coming to an A2DP Bluetooth headset near you. Currently, Bluetooth A2DP headsets have to reencode the audio signal first to PCM and then to the current codec, called the Subband Codec (SBC). The SBC codec, like MP3 files, is also lossy. This means that audio information is lost already, and reencoding to yet another lossy codec means even more audio is lost.
