A prototype Bluetooth heart monitor in development could give those who have already had a heart attack a much better chance of receiving treatment in time to save their lives. The device monitors ECG and transmits the information via Bluetooth to a specialized cell phone. The phone has special circuitry designed to check for signs that cardiac failure is imminent. If a heart attack is detected, the phone sends an alert to the emergency room via text message.
