Wibree Merges with Bluetooth Specifications

Bluetooth SIG has announced that Nokia’s Wibree will be merged to become part of the official Bluetooth specifications. Nokia has been working on Wibree since 2001, which is an ultra-low-power Bluetooth technology for use in devices with little battery capacity. It also provides further support for Bluetooth PANs (personal area networks).
Don’t hold your breath, because the first version of the Bluetooth + Wibree specification isn’t due until the first half of 2008.
